SCAM ALERT! – Don’t Fall for Fake Income Tax Pop-Ups

These pop-ups often look official and may even use the Income Tax Department’s logo or similar fonts to trick you into believing they are real.

Unfortunately, many taxpayers fall victim to these scams and end up sharing sensitive personal or banking details, which can lead to identity theft or financial fraud.

How the Scam Works

  1. You receive a pop-up while browsing the internet or checking emails.

  2. The pop-up claims you have been approved for an Income Tax refund of a certain amount.

  3. It asks you to click a link to verify your bank details or update your information.

  4. The link takes you to a fake website designed to steal your confidential data.

These pop-ups often appear with urgent messages like:
